Governor Quinn Announces $1.1 Million for Renovation Work at Dixon Correctional Center

DIXON – Governor Pat Quinn today announced a capital investment of $1.1 million for a renovation project at the Dixon Correctional Center. The project is part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.

“This construction project will address critical maintenance issues at this key Department of Corrections facility,” Governor Quinn said. “It will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy as well.”

Approximately 103,900 square feet of roofing on five buildings will be replaced, including new shingles, membrane, insulation, flashings, trim and all other necessary items. The roofs are on four inmate housing units and the CAT Building which houses the library, law library, sewing room, auditorium, chapel and some classrooms. Path Construction Company, Inc. of Arlington Heights was the lowest of four bidders at $1,174,400. The project will be managed by the Illinois Capital Development board.

“The Dixon Correctional Center is a major local employer and it plays an important role in our public safety system,” State Representative Tom Demmer (R-Dixon) said. “This capital investment helps to ensure it will be an efficient, viable facility for years to come.”

This project is part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
