Governor Quinn Announces $879,000 for Work on Transportation Maintenance Buildings in Carlyle, Lebanon and Nashville

CARLYLE – Governor Pat Quinn today announced capital investments of more than $879,000 for work on maintenance buildings for the Illinois Department of Transportation in Carlyle, Lebanon and Nashville. The projects are part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.

“These facilities help crews keep roads in southwestern Illinois safe and well-maintained,” Governor Quinn said. “These construction projects will also create a number of jobs, which will help the local economy as well.”

The Carlyle Maintenance Yard’s Maintenance Shed will be renovated and plumbing, electrical and climate control system upgrades performed. A 4,000-square-foot pole building with garage doors for vehicle storage will be constructed at Lebanon Maintenance Yard. A new salt dome will be built at the Nashville Maintenance Yard for the storage of snow and ice-melting materials.

The general construction work on all three facilities will be done by H & N Construction, Inc. of Steeleville, the lowest of five bidders at $793,250. The Electrical work will be performed by Pyramid Electrical Contractors, Inc. of Fairview Heights, whose bid of $86,640 was the lowest of three submitted. The projects will be managed by the Illinois Capital Development Board.

These projects are part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
