Governor Quinn Announces $615,000 for Eastern Illinois Construction Projects

MARSHALL – Governor Pat Quinn today announced capital investments of more than $615,000 for construction projects in Champaign, Clark, Douglas and Edgar Counties. The projects are part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.

“These projects will maintain a popular state park and upgrade several state facilities,” Governor Quinn said. “The projects will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy.”

The projects will be managed by the Illinois Capital Development Board.

Roofing and systems on various structures throughout Lincoln Trail State Park near Marshall will be replaced for $209,900 by Grunloh Construction, Inc. of Effingham, the lower of two bidders. This project is being done in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources’ Great Parks Partnership Initiative, which uses state funds to improve state parks throughout Illinois.

Illinois Department of Transportation facilities in three locations will receive upgrades. The Tuscola Storage Building will receive a new addition and plumbing, electrical and climate control system upgrades. The climate control system at the District 5 Headquarters Building in Paris will be upgraded. A material storage facility at the Champaign Maintenance Yard will be constructed. Several contracts were awarded for work on all three facilities. CAD Construction Inc. of Tremont, the lowest of four bidders at $267,916 will do the general renovation work; Reliable Plumbing & Heating Company of Champaign, the lowest of three bidders at $84,430 will do the heating, air conditioning and ventilation work; and Glesco Electric, Inc. of Urbana, the lowest of three bidders, will do the electrical work for $52,881.

These projects are part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
