Liquor Control Commission January Underage Compliance Report

SPRINGFIELD – In January the Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) conducted compliance checks around the state and visited 193 businesses licensed to sell liquor.  They cited 40 licensees for violations of liquor control laws.  Eighty percent of the licensees visited complied with Illinois liquor laws and refused to serve underage customers.

This report is a result of ongoing undercover and cooperative law enforcement operations conducted by Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) agents and local law enforcement officials and volunteers from high schools and colleges.  The teams randomly visit liquor stores, restaurants and bars in communities around the state to check for ongoing compliance with state laws mandating that no liquor is sold to minors under the age of 21. ILCC agents also work with local and state law enforcement agents to focus on communities with a high incidence of underage liquor sales.

Carbondale – On January 25 & January 26 the ILCC and the Carbondale Police Department conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Carbondale during the “Polar Bear Event.” Of the 66 licensees checked during the two day event, 13 sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

Cumberland and Clark Counties – On January 9, 2013 the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District # 12 conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Cumberland and Clark Counties. Of the 29 licensees checked, six sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

Douglas County – On January 23, 2013 the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District # 10 conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Douglas County. Of the 20 licensees checked, three sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

Lake County – On January 31, 2013 the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District # 2 conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Lake County. Of the 11 licensees checked, six sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

Macomb – On January 18, 2013 the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District # 14 conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Macomb. Of the 19 licensees checked, two sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

Madison County – On January 30, 2013 the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District # 11 conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Madison County. Of the 19 licensees checked, nine sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. Those licensees were:

Marion County – On January 2, 2013 the ILCC and the Illinois State Police District # 12 conducted alcohol underage compliance checks in Marion County. There were 29 licensees checked and 1 sold alcohol to ILCC underage participants. That licensee was:
