Governor Quinn Announces $7.6 Million for Construction Projects in Cook County

CHICAGO – Governor Pat Quinn today announced a total of more than $7.6 million in capital investments for construction projects in Cook County. The projects are part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.

“These projects will maintain local roadways and improve our infrastructure in Cook County,” Governor Quinn said. “The projects will also employ several construction workers, which will help the local economy as well.”

Calumet
 
Resurfacing on 2.97 miles of U.S. 6/Illinois 83 (Torrence Avenue) from Sibley Blvd. to I-80 in Calumet and Lansing. D Construction, Inc., Coal City, $1,779,889.

Chicago

Crack and joint routing and sealing in I-94 (Bishop Ford Expressway) from west of Martin Luther King Drive to 130th Street. SKC Construction, Inc., West Dundee, $297,486.

Hillside

Resurfacing on 1.12 miles of Harrison Street from Illinois 38 (Roosevelt Road) to Wolf Road. K-Five Construction Corporation, Lemont, $392,999.

Niles

Resurfacing on 2.93 miles of Illinois 43 (Harlem Avenue) from Illinois 72 (Higgins Road) to Oakton Street in Niles and Chicago. Arrow Road Construction Company, Mt. Prospect, $2,279,888.

Oak Forest

Resurfacing on 3.03 miles of U.S. 6/159th Street from east of Illinois 50 (Cicero Avenue) to Western Avenue in Oak Forest and Markham. K-Five Construction Corporation, Lemont, $2,205,711.

Park Ridge

Resurfacing on six-tenths of a mile of Dempster Street (U.S. 14) from Luther Lane to Greenwood Avenue in Park Ridge and Niles. Arrow Road Construction Company, Mt. Prospect, $588,975.

River Grove

Asbestos abatement prior to renovation work on the Technology Building at Triton College. Midway Contracting Group, LLC, Tinley Park, $248,000. The Illinois Capital Development Board will manage the project.

These contracts were recently awarded following a competitive bidding process and address critical infrastructure needs while creating construction jobs. The Illinois Department of Transportation will manage the projects.

These projects are part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which is supporting more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
