Press Release - Thursday, August 22, 2013

BERWYN – Governor Pat Quinn today announced a capital investment of $50,000 for work at several recreational facilities in Berwyn. The work is part of Governor Quinn’s Illinois Jobs Now! capital construction program that is creating jobs and driving Illinois’ economy forward.

“These funds will benefit those who enjoy Berwyn’s recreational areas,” Governor Quinn said. “These projects will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy as well.”

City of Berwyn will use the funding for plumbing and concrete work at Pavek pool, lighting at Janura Park softball field, and general infrastructure work at Janura Park soccer field.

“Berwyn is a growing and thriving community where projects like this will help to provide a bright future for our families and neighborhoods,” State Rep. Lisa Hernandez (D-Cicero) said. “It is through our continued local and state partnership that we can see jobs created and our communities strengthened.”

These projects are part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
