Governor Quinn Announces $23.5 Million for Construction Projects in LaSalle-Peru Area

LASALLE - Governor Pat Quinn today announced capital investments of more than $23.5 million for construction projects in Bureau, LaSalle, Livingston and Putnam Counties. The investments will create jobs and improve transportation safety and efficiency. Funded by his Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, the projects are part of Governor Quinn's agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois' economy forward.

"These investments in the LaSalle-Peru area are putting people to work, creating jobs that will help drive the local economy," Governor Quinn said. "They are also helping to repair and maintain Illinois' infrastructure to improve safety and efficiency throughout the region."

The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation except where noted.

Bureau County

Illinois Route 26 will receive 2.24 miles of resurfacing from north of Illinois Route 92 to the Lee County Line for $469,305 by Civil Constructors, Inc. of Freeport, the lowest of three bidders.

U.S. 6/34 will receive milling and resurfacing from Hazelwood Dr. in Wyanet to Main St. in Princeton for $1,860,803 by Advanced Asphalt Company of Princeton.

Illinois Route 40 will receive 11.82 miles of milling, overlaying, aggregate shoulders, and polyurea pavement marking from Illinois Route 92 and extending south to I-80 for $3,274,965 by Advanced Asphalt Company of Princeton.

3.15 miles of pavement resurfacing will be done beginning near Depue and continuing to Illinois Route 89 North for $927,060 by Advanced Asphalt Company of Princeton, the lower of two bidders.

U.S. 34 will receive 4.34 miles of pavement resurfacing from north of Lamoille to the LaSalle County Line for $1,354,841 by Advanced Asphalt Company of Princeton, the lower of two bidders.

LaSalle County

Illinois Route 251 will receive 9.63 miles of pavement resurfacing from south of Illinois Route 71 to Illinois Route 18 for $2,792,272 by Advanced Asphalt Company of Princeton.

Illinois Route 71 will receive 10.29 miles of pavement resurfacing beginning north of I-80 and continuing to the U.S. 52 intersection for $2,710,260 by Advanced Asphalt Company of Princeton, the lower of two bidders.

The bridge at Lock 14 in LaSalle will be removed for $221,518 by R&R Trucking, Inc. of Romeoville, the lower of two bidders. The project will be managed by the Illinois Capital Development Board.

LaSalle and Livingston Counties

Illinois Route 23 will receive 3.66 miles of milling and resurfacing from north of Richards Road to north of Bronson Street in Streator for $2,883,123 by Advanced Asphalt Company of Princeton, the lower of two bidders.

Livingston County

Illinois Route 116 will receive milling and resurfacing from Pearl St. at the east limits of Pontiac to Five Mile Creek near Illinois Route 47 for $2,413,177 by T & T Cartage, Inc. of Herscher.

Illinois Route 23 will receive 12.0 miles of resurfacing from near the Vermilion River Bridge to the east limits of Cornell for $2,990,748 by T & T Cartage, Inc. of Herscher, the lower of two bidders.

I-55 will receive microsurfacing along the centerline of northbound and southbound lanes, fiber- modified asphalt crack sealing and striping for $676,614 by A. C. Pavement Striping Co. of Elgin, the lower of two bidders.

Putnam and LaSalle Counties

Illinois Route 71 will receive 1.83 miles of resurfacing between Cedar Point and Granville for $940,774 by Advanced Asphalt Company of Princeton, the lower of two bidders.

The projects are part of Governor Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
