Governor Quinn Announces $6.2 Million for Construction Projects in Central Illinois

SPRINGFIELD - Governor Pat Quinn today announced capital investments of more than $6.2 million for construction projects in Logan, Macon, McLean, Montgomery, Peoria, Sangamon, Shelby and Woodford Counties. The investments will create jobs and improve the state's infrastructure. Funded by his Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, the projects are part of Governor Quinn's agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois' economy forward.

"These investments in central Illinois are putting people to work, creating jobs that will help drive the local economy," Governor Quinn said. "They are also helping to repair and maintain Illinois' infrastructure to improve safety and efficiency throughout the region."

The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Logan County

Illinois Route 10/121 will receive 0.792 miles of pavement patching and inlet adjustments between Elm Street and Kikapoo Street in Lincoln for $370,727 by Kinney Contractors, Inc. of Raymond.

Illinois Route 10 will receive 5.16 miles of pavement resurfacing from east of Sugar Creek to 0.3 miles west of I-55 for $1,823,316 by Illinois Valley Paving of Springfield, the lower of two bidders.

Macon County

U.S. 36 will receive 0.4 miles of patching, resurfacing and marking from 0.2 miles west of Harristown Blvd. for $668,268 by Illinois Valley Paving of Springfield.

McLean County

I-55 will receive 2.24 miles of patching at the I-74 ramps northwest of Normal for $354,531 by Kinney Contractors, Inc. of Raymond, the lower of two bidders.

Montgomery County

I-55 Frontage Road West will receive 1.79 miles of patching and resurfacing from south of Coalfield Rest Area to Illinois Route 48 for $693,200 by Illinois Valley Paving of Springfield, the lower of two bidders.

Peoria County

Bridge repairs at Adams Street over I-74 westbound and Jefferson Avenue over I-74 westbound in downtown Peoria will receive traffic control and protection for $251,750 by RoadSafe Traffic Systems, Inc. of Romeoville.

Sangamon County

West Fayette Avenue will receive a concrete deck beam bridge, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, concrete curb and gutter, base course widening, surfacing, erosion control and pavement markings for $1,554,000 by Plocher Construction Company, Inc. of Highland, the lowest of seven bidders.

Shelby County

Removal of the existing structure and construction of a new concrete deck beam bridge and railing and sidewalk replacement will be done on Christy St. adjacent to IL-128, south for 277 feet for $149,492 by Schmidt Construction, Inc. of Mt. Zion.

Bridge replacement will be done adjacent to Illinois Route 128 south of Christy St. in Cowden for $149,492 by Schmidt Construction, Incorporated of Mt. Zion.

Woodford County

Various routes in the Village of Roanoke will receive sidewalk, curb and gutter removal and replacement, pavement patching and marking for $198,518 by Illinois Civil Contractors, Inc. of East Peoria, the lowest of four bidders.

The projects are part of Governor Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
