Governor Quinn Announces Construction Project for IDOT Facilities in Olney, Robinson and Effingham

Press Release - Thursday, October 16, 2014

OLNEY - Governor Pat Quinn today announced a capital investment of more than $664,000 for construction projects at Illinois Department of Transportation facilities in Olney, Robinson and Effingham. The investment, funded by the Governor's Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, is part of Governor Quinn's agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois' economy forward.

"This investment protects our state's infrastructure and gets these vital facilities ready for what winter plans to throw at us," Governor Quinn said. "These maintenance facilities play a vital role in keeping our roads open and in good shape and keeping drivers safe."

The Illinois Capitol Development Board will manage the construction projects.

New roofing systems will be installed on the Olney Yard Equipment Storage Building and the Robinson Yard Salt Dome. An addition will be built on the Effingham West Yard Equipment Storage Building and the existing building will be upgraded. The general construction contract was awarded to Grunloh Construction, Inc. of Effingham, the lowest of three bidders. The plumbing will be done by Boos Enterprises, Inc. of Effingham, the lower of two bidders at $79,000. Pals Electric, Inc. of Teutopolis was the lower of two bidders for the electrical work at $66,777.

The projects are part of Governor Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
