Governor Meets with Companies at International Manufacturing Technology Show

CHICAGO - Governor Bruce Rauner today toured the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) at McCormick Place, visiting the booths of six companies with a presence in Illinois. IMTS is one of the world’s largest industrial trade shows, featuring more than 2,000 exhibiting companies from more than 114 countries.
 
“Illinois is a global community with workers and firms from across the world,” Governor Rauner said. “It is great to have the IMTS in Chicago. Our state is attractive to global manufacturers. They chose our state because we have the hardest working people, the best location and a wonderful transportation. Every day in our administration we’re working hard to recruit great companies to grow and invest here. Investing in our manufacturing industry, and getting it growing, is key to creating middle class jobs in Illinois and improving our quality of life for all.”
 
IMTS brings together companies and clients from all over the world to explore the latest in advanced manufacturing technology, with a focus on products and solutions for the aerospace, automotive, medical, tool and power generation industries.
 
The Governor visited the booths of the Harting Technology Group, Molex LLC, Omron Delta, Rittal Corporation, THK America, Inc. and Wittenstein.

•         Harting Technology Group produces industrial connectors and cables for use in electronics. Harting is headquartered in Espelkamp, Germany, with North American operations based in Elgin, where it employs 35 people. 

•         Molex, headquartered in Lisle, manufactures electronic, electrical and fiber optic interconnection systems for a variety of industries including aerospace and defense, mobile devises, consumer appliances and alternative energy. Molex operates seven facilities in Illinois, with nearly 900 employees.

•         Omron Delta is an international company with six locations in Illinois, including the company’s North American headquarters in Hoffman Estates. Omron manufactures automation systems for the transportation, healthcare, solar and automotive industries. The company is headquartered in Kyoto, Japan, and employs over 900 people in Illinois.

•         Rittal Corporation relocated its headquarters from Ohio to Schaumburg, Illinois in 2013. The company produces industrial cabinets for IT servers and electrical systems and has 20 employees in Illinois. 

•         THK America has its North American headquarters in Schaumburg, with over 130 employees. The company manufactures parts for the creation of linear motion systems.
 
•         Wittenstein is a German manufacturer of gearing technology, motors and systems for use in robotic systems, conveyor systems, and technology for equipment used in medicine, Formula One racing, aerospace and defense, as well as offshore oil and gas extraction. The company employs approximately 65 people in its North American headquarters in Bartlett.

IMTS is hosted in Chicago every two years. The trade show will run from September 12-18, 2016 at McCormick Place.
