Governor Quinn Announces $4.8 Million for Construction Projects in Northern Illinois

ROCHELLE - Governor Pat Quinn today announced an investment of $4.8 million for construction projects in Lee, Ogle and Winnebago Counties. Funded by his Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, the projects are part of Governor Quinn's commitment to creating jobs and driving Illinois' economy forward.

"These projects will improve traffic flow and safety in northern Illinois, which benefits everyone," Governor Quinn said. "The projects will also employ a number of construction workers, which will drive local economies forward."

The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Lee County

Work on Angling Road from S. Paw Paw Road to the LaSalle County line will be completed for $558,148 by Advanced Asphalt Company of Princeton, the lowest of six bidders. The work will include resurfacing and new shoulders.

Lee and Ogle Counties

Illinois Route 251 will be resurfaced for 13.6 miles in Lee and Ogle Counties from I-88 to Chicago Road for $3,214,449 by Rock Road Companies, Inc. of Janesville, Wisconsin, the lowest of five bidders.

Ogle County

Work on Pines Road from Ridge Road to 8th Street in Oregon will be completed for $469,572 by Rock Road Companies, Inc. of Janesville, WI, the lowest of five bidders. The work will include resurfacing, new shoulders and striping.

A bridge that carries Fox Lane Road over a branch of Buffalo Creek about 2.5 miles southwest of Polo will be replaced with an aluminum box culvert. The work will be done for $131,610 by O'Brien Civil Works, Inc. of Polo, the lowest of five bidders.

Winnebago County

A box culvert will be replaced that carries Illinois Route 75 over a drainage ditch one-third mile west of Winslow Road in Winnebago County. Martin & Company Excavating of Oregon was the lowest of nine bidders with a quote of $251,708.

The Interstate 39 southbound ramp over U.S. Route 20 in Rockford will be resurfaced, a distance of just over a mile, for $186,854 by William Charles Construction Company, LLC of Loves Park, the lowest of three bidders.

"Illinois' capital construction program helps communities by providing the resources needed to repair and improve our roads and bridges," State Senator Tim Bivins (R-Dixon) said. "These projects also help regional contractors and boost construction jobs."

The projects are part of Governor Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
