Governor Quinn Announces $3.2 Million in Grants to Madison and St. Clair County Hospitals

SPRINGFIELD – Governor Pat Quinn today announced $3.2 million in investments to hospitals in Madison and St. Clair County, part of $24.3 million in the Illinois Jobs Now! capital construction program to address the critical needs of downstate health care institutions. Today’s announcement follows Governor Quinn’s recent signing of a law that enacted the largest increase in health insurance coverage in state history, one of the Governor’s 2013 legislative priorities.

“It is crucial that hospitals have the most up to date facilities and equipment to deal with the health care needs of Illinois residents,” Governor Quinn said. “These grants will help Madison and St. Clair County hospitals provide better service to their patients.”

So far under Governor Quinn’s Illinois Jobs Now! capital construction program, private hospitals have received $150 million for critical health care needs.

The institutions in the area that will receive Illinois Jobs Now! funding include:

Madison County
Alton Memorial Hospital, $132,025 for a new air handling unit.
Anderson Hospital, Maryville, $149,399 for a new emergency department canopy.
St. Anthony’s Health Center, Alton, 163,322 for an electronic medical record system.

St. Clair County
Memorial Hospital, Belleville, $275,575 for a new MRI machine.
St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville, $266,170 for patient room renovation.
Touchette Regional Hospital, Centreville, $2.3 million to expand the Emergency Department.
