MATTOON– Governor Pat Quinn today announced a capital investment of $374,000 for a construction project at Lake Land College here in Mattoon. The project is part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.
“This project addresses needed improvements at Lake Land College while creating a number of construction jobs, which will help the local economy as well,” Governor Quinn said.
Exterior repairs will be made on Webb Hall, the Northwest Building and classroom buildings including tuckpointing, replacing sills and resealing windows. Grunloh Construction, Inc. of Effingham was the lowest of three bidders for the work at $374,000. The project will be managed by the Illinois Capital Development Board.
“The repairs at Lake Land College are a critical part of establishing a constructive learning environment for the students and instructors at LLC,” State Senator Dale Righter (R-Mattoon) said. “Not only that, but infrastructure upgrades like these help the entire community by creating employment opportunities and economic growth.”
“Our area is extremely proud of Lake Land College and the first-rate education it provides,” State Representative Brad Halbrook (R-Charleston) said. “These campus improvements will help to maintain the quality of the institution and its classes for years to come.”

The project is part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
