Press Release - Thursday, December 05, 2013

CHICAGO HEIGHTS – Governor Pat Quinn today announced a capital investment of more than $145,000 for a construction project at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights. The project is part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.
“This work will involve repairs to the campus infrastructure so Prairie State can continue to serve Southland residents,” Governor Quinn said. “The project will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy.”
Concrete repairs will be performed on walkway and curb sections across the campus, and sealants applied, for $145,557 by Davis Concrete Construction Company of Alsip, the lowest of five bidders. The project will be managed by the Illinois Capital Development Board.
“These improvements will help students and staff move around the campus more safely and more efficiently,” State Representative Anthony DeLuca (D-Chicago Heights) said. “Prairie State College is an excellent resource for our community and I will continue to back efforts that support the mission and goals of this institution.”
This project is part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
