Five Sweepstakes Winners to Receive Vehicle Preparedness Kits

Press Release - Tuesday, March 05, 2013

SPRINGFIELD – As parts of Illinois brace for the third winter storm in as many weeks, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) today announced five winners of ‘Winter Storm Preparedness Sweepstakes’ offered by IEMA and Grainger.

The winners include:

Bob Alvarez, Elk Grove Village
Bob Baird, Harvard
Arthur Bretz, New Lenox
Amanda Fobert, Lemont
Todd Wolfe, Beecher

Winners were selected randomly from more than 700 entries.  Sweepstakes participants read information about winter storm preparedness and completed a five-question quiz in order to register for the drawing.  The sweepstakes was available on the Ready Illinois website.

Each winner will receive a vehicle preparedness kit donated by Grainger, a leading broad line supplier of maintenance, repair and operating products.  The kits include water, non-perishable food, flashlight, light stick, AM radio, batteries, rescue blanket, first aid items and whistle.

“Snow, ice and freezing temperatures can make winter driving in Illinois dangerous,” said IEMA Director Jonathon Monken.  “If you get stuck along the road, having a vehicle preparedness kit in your vehicle can help you stay safe until help arrives.”
