Illinois State Fire Marshal Recognizes EMS Week

Press Release - Thursday, May 21, 2015

SPRINGFIELD – This week is National EMS Week and serves as an opportunity to thank the men and women who deliver emergency care across Illinois. Fire service-based EMS workers provide critical care to men and women who suffer injury or trauma and require emergency medical aid outside of a hospital.

The men and women who serve as EMS workers risk their lives every day to help their communities. They are highly skilled and trained to be the first line of medical care in emergency situations.

“Every day fire service-based EMS providers go to work putting the well-being of their communities first,” said Acting State Fire Marshal Matt Perez. “Their work saves lives and enhances the safety of cities and towns across the state. I am grateful to these selfless men and women who serve within our 1,126 fire departments across the state. Please join me in thanking them for their tremendous service this week.”

EMS week runs from May 17, 2015 to May 23, 2015.
