Governor Quinn Announces $9.7 Million for Bridge Replacement Project in Aurora

Press Release - Thursday, December 26, 2013

AURORA – Governor Pat Quinn today announced a capital investment of more than $9.7 million for a bridge replacement project in Aurora, part of his Illinois Jobs Now! capital construction program. The project is part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.

“Our investment will make travel across the Fox River safer and more efficient,” Governor Quinn said. “The project will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy.”

The bridge carrying Indian Trail Road over the Fox River in Aurora will be replaced for $9,779,159 by D Construction, Inc. of Coal City, the lowest of five bidders. The work will also include new pavement, curb and gutter, storm sewer, and lighting. The project will be overseen by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

“The much-needed Indian Trail Road Bridge enhancements will improve the daily commute of countless Aurora motorists,” State Senator Linda Holmes (D-Aurora) said.

“It is vital for Aurora and our region that we maintain a strong infrastructure,” State Representative Linda Chapa LaVia (D-Aurora) said. “Investments like this provide safe roads for our community and help to create good paying jobs.”

The project is part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
