Governor Quinn Announces $25 Million for Construction Projects in DeKalb, Kane and Kendall Counties

DEKALB - Governor Pat Quinn today announced capital investments of more than $25 million for construction projects in DeKalb, Kane and Kendall Counties. The investments will create jobs and improve the state's infrastructure. Funded by his Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, the projects are part of Governor Quinn's agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois' economy forward.

"These investments in DeKalb, Kane and Kendall Counties are putting people to work, creating jobs that will help drive the local economy," Governor Quinn said. "They are also helping to repair and maintain Illinois' infrastructure to improve safety and efficiency throughout the region."

The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

DeKalb County

8.49 miles of resurfacing, shoulder work and polyurea pavement marking will be done from north of U.S. Route 30 to Gurler Rd. south of the City of DeKalb for $2,271,066 by Curran Contracting Company of Crystal Lake, the lower of two bidders.

6.45 miles of pavement resurfacing will be done from west of Pine St. in Waterman to west of Somonauk Rd. in Hinckley for $2,233,664 by Builders Paving, LLC of Hillside, the lowest of three bidders.

U.S. 30 will receive milling and resurfacing from east of Hinckley to the Kane County Line for $347,743 by Builders Paving, LLC of Hillside, the lowest of three bidders.

The intersection of U.S. 34 and Main St. in Sandwich will receive new traffic signal heads for $10,752 by Virgil Cook & Son, Inc. of DeKalb, the lowest of three bidders.

Kane County

Illinois Route 64 will receive resurfacing from County Line Rd. to Illinois Route 47 in Maple Park, Virgil, Virgil Township and Campton Township for $2,128,534 by Curran Contracting Company of Crystal Lake, the lowest of three bidders.

Illinois Route 31 will receive resurfacing from Elizabeth Place to Main St. in Batavia and Geneva for $1,439,383 by Geneva Construction Company, Inc. of Aurora, the lower of two bidders.

Various routes in Batavia will receive solar-power flashing beacon assemblies, a raised median refuge island, sidewalk, detectable warnings, sign panels, concrete foundation, thermoplastic pavement markings and replacement of concrete curb and gutter for $402,853 by Alliance Contractors, Inc. of Woodstock, the lowest of four bidders.

Randall Road will receive traffic signal improvements from Fabyan Parkway to Silver Glen Rd. for $1,721,740 by Thorne Electric, Inc. of Wheaton, the lowest of seven bidders.

U.S. 20 will receive 0.91 miles of widening, resurfacing, traffic signal modernization, lighting and left turn lanes at the North Junction of Illinois Route 47/72 in Pingree Grove for $5,539,055 by Curran Contracting Company of Crystal Lake, the lowest of five bidders.

Illinois Route 38 will receive resurfacing from West County Line Road to Illinois Route 47 for $1,846,668 by Plote Construction, Inc. of Hoffman Estates, the lowest of three bidders.

Illinois Route 38 will receive 9 miles of resurfacing from Illinois Route 47 to Illinois Route 31 for $4,721,282 by Plote Construction, Inc. of Hoffman Estates, the lowest of three bidders.

An Intelligent Transportation System including Closed Circuit Television, Remote Traffic microwave Sensors, Speed Confirmation Signs and a Road Weather Information Station will be installed on Stearns Rd. from Randall Rd. to Dunham Rd. for $1,670,457 by Meade, Inc. of Oak Brook.

Bluff City Blvd. will receive 0.46 miles of resurfacing from U.S. 20 to Gifford Rd. for $261,633 by Plote Construction, Inc. of Hoffman Estates.

Kane and Kendall Counties

Hill Avenue will receive 0.73 miles of resurfacing from Hill Ave. to a point 52 feet south of Montgomery Rd. in the Village of Montgomery and Aurora Township for $270,820 by D Construction, Inc. of Coal City, the lower of two bidders.

Kendall County

U.S. 34 will receive 0.46 miles of resurfacing from Jackson Place to Illinois Route 71 for $225,754 by D Construction, Inc. of Coal City, the lowest of three bidders.

Illinois Route 126 will receive 1.27 miles of milling and surfacing from southeast of Illinois Route 47 to northeast of Illinois Route 71 for $368,818 by D Construction, Inc. of Coal City, the lower of two bidders.

Illinois Route 126 will receive 8.38 miles of safety shoulders beginning east of IL 71 and continuing to the Will County Line for $1,401,181 by D. Construction, Inc. of Coal City, the lower of two bidders.

The projects are part of Governor Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
