Governor Quinn Announces $18.27 Million for Construction Project in Macon County

DECATUR - Governor Pat Quinn today announced a capital investment of more than $18.27 million for a construction project that will improve transportation safety and efficiency in Macon County. The investment, funded by the Governor's Illinois Jobs Now! construction program, is part of Governor Quinn's agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois' economy forward.

"New infrastructure projects are creating jobs for hardworking men and women throughout Illinois," Governor Quinn said. "This investment in Macon County will improve local and state transportation networks, and continue Illinois' road to recovery."

The project will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Interstate 72 will receive 10.85 miles of pavement patching, surface removal, resurfacing, guardrail and pavement marking from 0.5 miles west of U.S. 51 to 4.4 miles west of the Piatt County Line for $18,277,321 by Illinois Valley Paving of Springfield.

The project is part of Governor Quinn's $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest construction programs in the nation.
