Archie Ford’s service in the Army in Europe during the Cold War was much like the service of countless others.   He did his time and returned to the States in 1980 with a Good Conduct Medal and opportunities. Like other veterans, Archie faced the challenge of drug abuse and addiction and embarked on a personal journey from the 1980’s up to now, where he learned helping others was a great way to help himself, and countless fellow veterans along the way. He was nominated for this recognition by Dave MacDonna, Director of Development & Communications, The Salvation Army, Decatur, Illinois.

The IDVA will be represented at this event by Rodrigo Garcia, the IDVA Assistant Director. He will present the award on behalf of Governor Pat Quinn, which includes a framed proclamation as well as a State Flag.

Media are encouraged and welcome to attend. Please contact the Salvation Army at 217-428-4672 or via email to Dave_MacDonna@usc.salvationarmy.org for requests to Mr. Ford.

A “day-of” press release will be issued by the IDVA. All events are subject to change without notice.
